ANNA MARIE (SNYDER) TROWBRIDGE WELLSVILLE—Anna Marie (Snyder) Trowbridge, 89, died Sunday, Jan. 3, 2016 following an extended illness, at Manor Hills Assisted Living in Wellsville where she had resided the past two years. Born April 29, 1926 in the Town of Ward, she was the daughter of Carl and Adeline “Addie” (Harding) Snyder. She had attended the former Alfred High School and was graduated from Alfred-Almond Central School in 1945. Following high school, she studied nutrition at Delhi Agricultural and Technical Institute. She was married to Lyle Trowbridge in Alfred in August 1946. Following her husband’s graduation from Alfred University in 1951, they moved to Buffalo where he was employed by Grange League Federation (GLF), the forerunner of Agway. In 1955, her husband was transferred by GLF to Mount Holly, NJ where they resided until 1962. There, she and her husband enjoyed square dancing at the Merry Mohican Western Square Dance Club where they were members for many years. In 1962, the family moved to Glens Falls where her husband was employed by the former Ames Chemical Company and she managed the Floyd Bennett Airport Restaurant in Glens Falls for a number of years. Later, she moved back to the Alfred-Almond area, residing in Canisteo, Thacherville and Almond before moving to Manor Hills in Wellsville. Anna Marie was an avid reader and enjoyed crossword puzzles. She took pride in being the oldest in attendance at the Snyder Family Reunion the past few years. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband on March 6, 2004, and her daughter, Victoria L. Trowbridge on Feb. 9, 2012. Survivors include a daughter, Karen (Pierangelo) Filini of Riverside, CT; three grandchildren, Matthew III, Caitlin and Devon Neary; a sister-in-law, Helen Snyder of Niagara Falls; a nephew, Dean Arthur Snyder of Youngstown, and niece, Lou Ann (Snyder) Raymond of Niagara Falls. A memorial service will be held in the spring at the convenience of the family at Alfred Rural Cemetery where her ashes will be buried. The family was assisted by Bender, Brown and Powers Funeral Home of Hornell.
