Linda L. Caruso – (62) – of 475 Seneca Rd., North Hornell and also a resident of Largo, FL, died Monday evening (February 18, 2013) at her home in North Hornell, following a lengthy illness.
Born in Hornell on August 26, 1950, she was the daughter of Anthony & Phyllis (Altieri) Parlave.
Linda grew up in Hornell and was a graduate of St. Ann’s School. She later graduated from Hornell High School (class of 1968).
She was employed for about 2 years as a secretary for the State of New York. Linda also worked for several years for Steuben County A.R.C. in Hornell, where she also volunteered. For many years, Linda served as bookkeeper & secretary for Caruso’s Construction, retiring about 3 years ago.
Linda was a member of Our Lady of the Valley Parish and a communicant of St. Ann’s Church. Although she enjoyed working with pottery and also refurbishing furniture, her true joy in life was derived from her selfless devotion to her family and friends. Her love for her husband, son, parents, brother, sisters & grandchildren was boundless. She especially enjoyed attending her grandchildren’s school activities (soccer games and swimming). She also followed hockey, figure skating, and hoped that she would see another triple-crown winner in the Kentucky Derby.
In addition to her parents, Linda was preceded in death by her brother, Anthony “Butch” Parlave.
She was married on October 7, 1970 to Michael “Mike” Caruso who survives. Also surviving are: her son Sean (Andrea) Caruso of Geneseo, NY; 4 sisters, Phyllis (Jim) Conway-Giglio of Hornell, Rosalie Lucas of Largo, FL, Gloria (Rodney) Cone of Hornell and Mary (Don) Canfield of Largo, FL; 3 grandchildren, Cameron Caruso, Taylor Caruso & Michael Caruso; several cousins, nieces, nephews, aunts, her friend Kay Terwillerger, and her dog “Spyro”.
At Linda’s request there will be no prior calling hours. Friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Saturday, (February 23, 2013) at 10:00 AM at St. Ann’s Church. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, Linda’s family request that donations to the Steuben County ARC, 1 Arc Way, Bath, NY 14810.
