Dana R. Biddle, 65, of 24 Green Street, passed away unexpectedly Tuesday (December 10, 2013) St James Mercy Hospital.
Born in Hornell, December 1, 1948, the son of Ward and Pauline (Ross) Biddle, a lifelong area resident, and a graduate of Hornell High School. Dana served in the US Navy during the Vietnam Era, on active duty from 1967-1971, and in the Reserves from 1971-1973. He previously was employed by the Hornell High School, Alfred State College, Foster-Wheeler, Erie-Lackawanna Railroad, and Crowley Foods. He was also a member of the Canisteo American Legion Post #846, the Hornell VFW, and a former volunteer fireman for the South Hornell Fire Company.
He was predeceased by his parents, 2 brothers Richard and Paul Biddle, and 3 sisters Joyce Mess, Phylis Carpenter, and Carolyn Weischmen.
He is survived by 3 daughters Rene (Beu) Judd of TX, Tracey (George) Sharp of Canisteo, Denise (Brian) Block of CA, a son Dana A. (Nina) Biddle of Arkansas, 2 sisters KayMarie (James) Wyant of Arkport, Clio (Richard) Gerbes of Canisteo, a brother Charles Biddle of Arkport, 25 grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.
The family will be present on Friday from 3-6pm, at the Bender – Brown & Powers Funeral Home, 354 Canisteo St, Hornell, where a funeral service and Military honors will be held at 6:00pm, with the Rev. Dan Knopf officiating. Burial will be at Bath National Cemetery.
