Virginia A. Chamberlin, 74, of 1242 Maple Court, passed away Monday (December 16, 2013) at home.
Born in Binghamton, July 6, 1939, the daughter of Edward and Mary (Chestnut) Hibler, she had resided in this area for many years, graduating from West Paris School in Maine. Virginia was retired from Alfred State College. She was a very active member of the Hornell Moose Lodge, and also a member of the Hornell American Legion Post 440. Virginia also enjoyed knitting, making many towels and dishcloths for her family and friends. She was also known for making reindeer dust for children to leave out for Santa’s reindeer, and was an avid Buffalo Bills fan. She will be most remembered for the love of her family.
She was predeceased by her parents and a sister Georgia Hull.
She is survived by her husband Nelson L. Chamberlin whom she married on August 26, 1961, 2 sons Charles (Michelle) Chamberlin of Hornell, Brian (Michele) Chamberlin of Hornell, a sister Jean (Richard) Glover of PA, 4 grandchildren, 1 great grandchild, brother in laws Doug Hull of Florida, George Chamberlin of Florida, and Richard (Jeanette) Chamberlin of PA, and several nieces and nephews.
The family will be present 11am-1pm Friday, December 20, 2013, at the Bender – Brown & Powers Funeral Home, 354 Canisteo St, Hornell, where funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM, with the Rev. Beverly Welch officiating. Burial will be in Heritage Hills Cemetery in Arkport.
