Clik here to view.William H. Townsend Hornell William H. Townsend, 81 formerly of Washington Street and Maple Court Homes, passed away Sunday (August 24, 2014) at the Hornell Gardens. Born in Hornell, May 2, 1933, the son of Charles R. and Priscilla Blank Townsend, he had resided in Canisteo for several years prior to moving to Hornell. He had been employed for 20 years at the former Corbin Woodproducts in Hornell, and 19 years at Gunlocke in Wayland. Bill served his country as a member of the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. Bill was married to Nell Norene Townsend who predeceased him on May 18, 2004 after 47 years of marriage. Together, they raised several foster children over the years. He is survived by his sons, William J. Townsend of Hornell, Donald (Mary) Woughter of Hornell, daughters, Betty Flint of Hornell and Clara Young of Dansville, his sister, Virginia Schuartz of Olean, 2 Grandchildren, Joseph Townsend and Allexys Townsend both of Hornell, several foster grandchildren. The family wishes to thank the staff on second floor of the Hornell Gardens for the excellent care given to Bill during his stay there.
