Donald W. Weber Bath Donald W. Weber, 92, formerly of Arkport passed away on Friday (September 5, 2014) at the Steuben County Health Related Facility. Born in Hornell, February 20, 1922, the son of Walter S. and Nellie L. (Rowe) Weber, he was a lifelong area resident, graduating from Avoca Central School “Class of 1941”. Don served our country in the US Army during World War II, stationed in places such as Central Europe, Normandy, Northern France Rhineland, and received the European African Middle Eastern Service Medal, and the Good Conduct Medal. He attended an Art School in New England, and was critiqued by Norman Rockwell, and was also well known as a very talented graphics and landscape artist using several different mediums. He owned his own art studio, where his pictures were bought by people from Canada, to Florida, and was also involved in several local art shows. Don had also owned a Soda bar in Dalton, was retired from the Hornell Evening Tribune as an industrial artist, then worked for a print shop in Naples, and eventually owned and operated Minuteman printing in Hornell. Don had also worked for the former SKF, in Hornell. He was predeceased by his parents, his brother Gerald Weber, and his sister Helen Van Name and his wife Delores Kelly Weber in January of 1998, they were married on April 2, 1949. He is survived by nieces and nephews James, Jeffrey and Susan Weber, great nieces and nephews James Weber Jr. Jennifer Colsrud, and Tony Weber Rice, great great nieces and nephews Brianna Weber, and Andrew and Megan Colsrud, his sister in law Jean Weber of Arkport, the Kelly family nieces and nephews, and his good friends the Thomas family. The family will be present Tuesday (September 9, 2014) from 12-2pm, at the Bender – Brown & Powers Funeral Home, 354 Canisteo St, Hornell, where Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM, with Deacon Robert McCormick officiating, and military honors to follow.
