Clik here to view.Robert M. ‘PA’ Prouty Taberg / Canisteo Robert M. ‘PA’ Prouty, 59, of 52 Martin Court, Taberg, NY, formerly of Canisteo passed away at his home. Born in Hornell, July 30, 1955, the son of Robert N. and Gladys Gordon Prouty, he was a graduate of Canisteo Central School, Class of 1974. Following graduation, “ PA” served his country as a member of the United States Air Force from 1974 until 1978. As a result of his enlistment in the Air Force, he chose aviation mechanics as his vocation.. While in the Air Force, he was stationed at the Rome Air Force Base as an aviation mechanic, specializing in B52 Bombers. He was a graduate of the Spartan School of Aeronautics in Tulsa, Oklahoma and was licensed as an Aviation Maintenance Technician in 1984. He successfully passed the Mastery Examination in Aircraft Systems in 2011, passed an OJT Training and Line Maintenance course at Jet Blue Airways, as well as having degrees in both building and machine trades. He traveled all over the United States to different airports where he was needed as an airline industry inspector. He obtained his CDL license and was employed as a truck driver, but that was short lived because that job didn’t give him enough time to fish. In addition to fishing, he enjoyed hunting, Star Track and Si Fi movies. He was a member of the Canisteo American Legion and the Canisteo Rod and Gun Club. He was predeceased by his parents , one sister, Linda Henshaw and two brothers-in-law, Randy Plank and Alan Wilder. He is survived by his sisters, Judy Plank of Bath, Mary Prouty of Greatfalls, Montana, and Pam Prouty of Bergen, his brother, David Prouty of Florida and his brother-in-law, Steve Henshaw of Arkport. Family and friends are invited to attend a Celebration of Life Service at the Canisteo American Legion Post on Friday November 21. 2014 at 3 PM. Military honors will be given by the Air Force Honor Guard, and services will be conducted by Rev. Patrick Harrison. A reception will follow. Burial will be in Bath National Cemetery.
