Norma L. Young Almond Norma L. Young, 58, of 15 Main Street, passed away peacefully, Saturday (May 2, 2015) at Highland Hospital in Rochester, after a courageous battle with cancer. Born in Hornell, November 6, 1956, the daughter of Orman and Patricia (Gee) Young, she was a lifelong area resident, graduating from Hornell High School. Norma had worked various jobs throughout her life, the last being at Smitty’s in Wayland. She enjoyed cooking, but her true accomplishment in life was being the best, mother, grandmother, daughter and sister a person could ever ask for. She truly enjoyed every minute she could, with her family. She was predeceased by her father Orman Young, her grandson Joseph Turner, and a niece Mary Jo Hill. She is survived by her mother Patricia “Pat” (Richard) Davison of Canaseraga, her daughter Angela (Jason) Turner of Almond, her son James Racalto of Hornell, 3 grandchildren Brandon Drake of Jasper, Nicholas Turner of Almond, Alyssa Turner of Almond, a step grandson Joshua Turner of Hornell, her former husband and friend Anthony Racalto of Hornell, 3 sisters Rebecca (Jeff) Robinson of Rochester, Sandra Kinnerney of Almond, Julie Pierce of Hornell, 3 brothers Randall (Linda) Young of Hornell, David Young of Bath, Richard Davison Jr. of Canaseraga, her beloved 4-legged companion “Petey” , and several nieces, nephews and cousins. The family will be present on Wednesday (May 6, 2015) from 1-4pm at the Bender – Brown & Powers Funeral Home, 354 Canisteo St, Hornell, where funeral services will be held at 4:00pm with the Rev. Dudley Jenkins officiating. A gathering of family and friends will take place after the funeral at the AMVets in Hornell.
