William L. Acker Bolivar William L. Acker, 64, of 116 Olean Street, passed away Saturday (May 2, 2015) in Zephyrhills, Florida. Born in Hornell, October 27, 1950, the son of Lawrence and Margaret Brown Acker, he had resided in Canisteo during his early life but most of his life in Wellsville. Bill had resided in Bolivar since 1978.He was a graduate of Wellsville High School and had been employed as a manager at both Carpet Town in Weston Mills and later at Custom Carpets in Olean. Bill served his country as a member of the United States Air Force from 1971 until 1975. He was active in sports during high school and remained actively involved in his son’s sports activity thru high school and college. He was a member of the Bolivar Lions Club and the Bolivar American Legion Post. He was predeceased by his parents. He is survived by his wife, Sally Raykovitz Acker of Bolivar, his daughter: Jamie Acker Lewis of Rochester , his son, Aaron and his wife, Kristin Mekjean Acker of Buffalo, his sister, Patricia (Tom) Cline of Wellsville, and his brother, Robert Acker of Hornell, his grandchildren, Ayedin Lewis, Kamdyn Lewis and Adina Acker, several nieces and nephews. The family will be present to receive friends at the Bender – Brown & Powers Funeral Home, 354 Canisteo St, Hornell. on Friday from 2-4 PM and 6-8 PM. Family and friends are invited to attend a graveside service with military honors at Woodlawn Cemetery, South Main Street in Wellsville on Saturday at 11 AM.
