Joseph E. Robbins Arkport Joseph E. Robbins, 82, of West Avenue, passed away Friday (July 31, 2015) at St James Hospital. Joe was born in Susquehanna, PA on July 12, 1933 and was a graduate from Hornell Senior High School in 1953. After serving in the Army he worked on the Conrail and Erie Railroads. Joe enjoyed Golfing at Twin Hickory Gulf Club with all golfing friends. Joe was a dedicated fan of Hornell and Arkport athletics. One knows you could always depend on seeing Joe at the golf course rain or shine as he worked to get that hole in one. Joe was enmeshed in the community and known to bake cookies and sneak them out of the house from Sue to share with friends. Joe was a member of the American Legion for 34 years and was the past drum major of the Hornell Tiersman and a member of the Hornell Alumni Association. He was the best Grandpa not only to his own grandchildren but to many others that adopted him as grandfather as well. Joe is survived by his loving wife Suzanne (Bossard) Robbins to whom he married on April 9, 1976, they were married 39 years. Joe is lovingly remembered by his children Martin Robbins of Seattle Washington, Thomas Robbins, Deborah (Greg) Persichilli of Webster, Steven (Stephanie) Stillman of Kentucky. Grandchildren Marta (Nick) Gailushas, Anna (Sig) Ratkoviak, Samantha Robbins, all of Seattle WA, Michael Mahoney, of Kuwait, Erica (Todd) Mahoney Smith of Webster, Kelsey Persichilli of West Palm Beach, FL, Taren Persichilli of Andover, Dominique and Hunter Stillman of Kentucky and several great grandchildren. The family will be present to receive friends from 2-5PM on Monday (August 3, 2015) at the Bender-Brown & Powers Funeral Home, 354 Canisteo St. Hornell, NY 14843. Funeral Services will be held following calling hours at 5PM at the funeral home. Burial will be in Rural Cemetery, Hornell. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Hornell Alumni Association , PO Box 135, Hornell, NY 14843 or to the Hornell Area Humane Society 7649 Industrial Park Road Hornell, NY, 14803.
