ESTELLE RUTH HAMMOND
Hornell
Ruth Hammond, 92, formerly of Hornell, passed away Friday (Nov. 22, 2013) at The Livingston County CNR in Mt Morris.
Born in Hornell, October 10, 1921, the daughter of George and Irene (Palmer) Swanson, she was a graduate of Hornell High School, class of 1939. She married Donald Hammond in 1941 who predeceased her in 2003. Before her marriage, Ruth worked for Bell Telephone and after her children were grown up, she worked in retail stores on a part-time basis.
Ruth devoted her life to her family as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and sister. She was a long time member of the Hornell United Presbyterian Church. During her lifetime, she lived where her husband’s employment took them to include: Laramie Wyoming, Dansville, Wayland, and North Hornell. In retirement she resided in: Hornell, Lakeland Florida, Vermont, Arkport, Albany, Avon, and Mt Morris. She was always interested in her children and in Wayland, was active in Cub Scouts. Her flower gardens and crafts were a great enjoyment to her.
She is survived by twin children, Donald (Linda) Hammond, Donna (Rick) Bokland; son, Gary Hammond, four grandchildren, a step granddaughter and nine great grandchildren.

There will be a family funeral service held at the convenience of the family. Interment will be in Rural Cemetery, Hornell.
