Gioacchino Orologio

Gioacchino “Jack” Orologio Jr. Buffalo Gioacchino”Jack” Orologio Jr. 77, of 218 Kenmore Avenue, passed away Saturday (April 5, 2014) at the Delaware Nursing & Rehab Center in Buffalo after a long illness. Born in Hornell on January 5, 1937, he was the son of Gioacchino and Mary (Yracone) Orologio. He was a longtime resident of Hornell who joined the US Air Force in 1957. After extensively traveling the world and rising to the rank of Master Sergeant, he retired from Langley Air Force Base with 25 years of service. He managed Thrifty Rental Car in Oklahoma after retirement. Jack was devoted to his family and friends and was considered overly generous and befriended all he that he met. He was an avid sports fan and especially interested in college sports. During his Air Force travels he collected various pieces of art and had an extensive collection of unique pieces. He was predeceased by his parents, his ex-wife, Nancy Wilson, brother-in-law W. Leo Karr, and sister-in-law Sandra Orologio. He is survived by his 3 sons Gioacchino “Jack” (Amber) Orologio III of Oklahoma, Anthony Orologio of Buffalo, Michael (Jennilynn) Orologio of Oklahoma, 2 daughters Anne Marie (Rod) Johnson of Oklahoma, and Gina (Josh) Tonne of Germany, 2 sisters, Angelina Karr of Arkport and Rose Marie (Felix) Natoli of Perry, 2 brothers Vincent Orologio of Caledonia and Benny (Barbara) Orologio of Caledonia, several grandchildren, 1 great granddaughter, several nieces and nephews and Denise Williams of Buffalo. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated on Friday (April 11, 2014) at 10:00am, at St. Ann’s Church in Hornell, with burial and military honors to follow at St. Ann’s Cemetery in Hornell.
