Carl E. Swain Canaseraga Carl E. Swain, 91, of Mill Street, passed away Wednesday (November 19, 2014) St James Mercy Hospital. Born in Canaseraga, August 14, 1923, the son of John and Blanch Moses Swain, he had resided all his life in Canaseraga. Carl retired from Gunlocke and served his country in the United States Army during WWII. He was a member of the Larger Parish Church, the Canaseraga American Legion, Dansville VFW, Dansville Moose and was a lifelong member of the Canaseraga Volunteer Fire Dept. In addition to his parents Carl was predeceased by his sisters, Donna Ayers and Virgie Swain, brothers, Everett and Orin Swain. He is survived by one son, Elton (Nancy) Swain of Canaseraga, Step-Son, Jody (Lisa) Kenyon of FL, two daughters, Lori (Boyd) McDaniel and Michelle (Steven) Sleight both of Arkport, eight grandchildren, April Crego, John Swain, Vincent, Andrew, Joshua and Victoria McDaniel, Kiana and Noah Sleight, step-granddaughter, Corisa Kenyon, great grandsons, Joshua and Dylan Crego, several nieces, nephews and cousins. The family will be present to receive friends from 1PM-3PM on Saturday (Nov. 22, 2014), at the Bender – Brown & Powers Funeral Home, 354 Canisteo St, Hornell, NY 14843. Funeral services will follow calling hours at 3PM at the funeral home, Rev. Jess Flint officiating. Burial will be in Canaseraga Cemetery. Friends wishing may make memorial contributions to Canaseraga Volunteer Fire Dept. or to the Canaseraga American Legion.
