Buchholz, 75, of 780 State Rt. 21, Thacherville, passed away unexpectedly Tuesday (November 18, 2014) shortly after arrival at St. James Mercy Hospital. Born in the Town of Willing, NY, July 24, 1939, the son of Harry F. and Florence Fanton Buchholz, he had resided in the Hallsport area in his early life prior to enlisting in the Military. He was a graduate of Wellsville High School, and served his country as a member of the United States Marine Corp. He had been employed as an inspector for Ford Motor Company in Sandusky, Ohio for several years. He was a member of the Canisteo American Legion Post and the Whitesville Rod and Gun Club. He was predeceased by his parents, his wife Mariam Stever Buchholz in 2005, as well as six of his siblings. He is survived by three step-children, Donald and Theodore Buchholz, and Karen Brandal, two sisters, Jane (Archie) Kernan of Lindley, Joyce (Larry) Arbogast of Boliver, two brothers, Oscar (Dianne) Buchholz of Wellsville and Galen (Mary) Buchholz of Wellsville, his long time friend, Carol Moss of Canisteo, 2 grandsons and 2 great grandchildren, nieces & nephews, To send a remembrance to the family or to light a candle in Virgil’s memory, please visit wwwbrownandpowersfuneralhomes.com.
